From Julie Christ

Last Saturday February 7, 2009, I got to visit with Christian and his parents at the Jumping Turtle.  The band had to cancel due to injury and the fundraiser was a bust, but the time I got to spend with the Kingsleys was priceless!  Christian seems so much like his old self, laughing, cracking jokes, interacting, etc.  He played pool and has great mobility now that the body brace is gone.  I got to hear his tales about Project Walk and how much he loves the therapy.  I saw a sparkle in his eyes!  His mom and dad looked like they were having fun even though we had to hold our conversation until the band stopped.  Eventually, we braved the cold outside for awhile before we all headed home after about three hours.  It was the high point of my weekend when I saw Christian acting like he was having a blast.
The next fundraiser one of my students has arranged is at Boudin Sourdough Co. in San Marcos.  It will be on March 2 from 4 pm-8pm so mark your calendars and let's pack out the place!  We need to all chip in and make sure Christian can continue at Project Walk every month!  It's about $3600 Tom said.  I have high hopes that Christian can get better with their wonderful therapy.  I challenge everyone to give sacrificially!  Consider using your tax refund to help out or give up some of your regular treats to give to Christian's fund.

ice skating was a huge success!

Hey!  It's Jessica.

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out for the ice skating event!  We had over 500 people attend and were able to raise over $5,000 for Christian.  The ice skating rink was packed all the way until 10:30pm.  The bands, Sketchy Styles and Adam Balm played awesome music and got everyone dancing on and off the ice.

Please join us at the Jumping Turtle this Saturday for a concert event.
More info to come.

Ice Skating Fundraising Event

Hello all!  This is Jessica again.

Christian has been going to two rehab centers, one at the hospital and one at Project Walk.  Christian and his family are very happy with Project Walk and what they have him doing.  Christian said that Project Walk is a very big facility and is working out 3 hours a day, up to 3 times a week.  He has also gotten the chance to meet other teens in his situation and was reaffirmed that the wheelchair he has is a perfect fit for him.  Christian said that it is hard work, but he loves it.

This Saturday there is an ice skating event at the Ice-Oplex (555 N Tuplip St. Excondido, CA 92025) to help raise money for Christian.  There will be live music by Adam Balm (www.myspace.com/adambalmmusic) and Sketchy Styles (www.myspace.com/sketchystyles), a raffle, and of course ice skating.  The event starts at 8pm and goes until 10:30pm and admission is $10.00.  Bring extra money to purchase t-shirts, winter caps, and raffle tickets (purple i-pod nano chromatic up for raffle!)  It's going to be a lot of fun!

Ice skating concert for Christian this Saturday.

Hello it is Marc,
Please check out the photo section for some new pictures from the 5K last Saturday and make room on you schedule to join us for the  following event.

Local Community invited to ice skating event at Escondido Ice-Oplex to raise fund for Christian Kingsley.

WHO:

Families, youth, and anyone up for an evening of fun with a purpose are invited to this fundraising event for Christian Kingsley, a Mission Hills High School (MHHS) junior, who suffered a severe spinal cord injury in a recent accident and is now paralyzed from the waist down. The event is being organized by fellow MHHS student Marcie Robb, who was so moved upon hearing of Christian’s accident and the resources required for his rehabilitation that she decided to get involved. “I think it’s important to help people whenever and however you can. An uncle of mine was killed in a car accident, and there was nothing I could do to help him, which was so discouraging. Though I don’t know Christian very well, his situation is one in which I can take action to make a difference,” Robb explains. Robb approached Isaiah Pursley, Health Club Manager at the Escondido Ice-oplex, who gladly secured the use of the ice skating facility for the fundraiser

WHAT:
An Evening of Ice Skating, Live Music, a Raffle, and More! A $10 admission fee covers skate rental and use of the skating rink. Raffle tickets will be on sale to win prizes such as gift certificates from local retailers and restaurants as well as electronics and other items. T-shirts and caps will also be on sale at the event. Proceeds from the sale of all raffle tickets and the T-shirts and caps, and a significant portion of the admission cost, will directly benefit Christian Kingsley’s rehabilitation needs. Live music will be provided by two local bands: Adam Balm and Sketchy Styles from Los Angeles.

WHEN:
Saturday, January 31, 8:00 to 10:30 p.m.

WHERE:
